Find ME — Privacy Policy

Effective date: August 9, 2026

Find ME helps people who are trying to meet up find each other, by showing a compass arrow pointing toward someone who has agreed to share their location with you, and the distance between you. This policy explains what data we collect and how it is used.

Data we collect

Account information. When you sign up we collect your email address, a display name you choose, and a password (stored securely by Firebase Authentication — we never see your password).

Precise location. While — and only while — you are in an active session, the app reads your device's GPS location and shares it with the other people in that session so their arrows can point toward you. Location is not collected at any other time.

Purchase information. If you buy the Premium unlock, our payments provider RevenueCat records that the purchase belongs to your account, so that it works on your other devices and can be restored if you reinstall the app. We never receive or store your card details — the payment is handled entirely by Apple or Google.

Location sharing continues while the app is in the background

This is the point most worth understanding, so it has its own section.

Once a session is running, Find ME keeps sharing your location while the app is in the background and while your screen is locked. That is deliberate, and it is the reason the app is useful: if sharing stopped the moment you put your phone in your pocket, the other person's arrow would freeze at wherever you were standing when you locked it — in a crowd, exactly when you need it most.

You are never sharing without knowing it:

There is no hidden mode, no passive monitoring, and no way to follow someone without them having agreed to it.

Who your location is shared with

Your live location is shared only with the other people in your active session — people you connected with by exchanging a six-digit code, or by accepting an invitation. On the free tier that is one other person. With the Premium unlock a session can hold up to six people, and you can have up to three separate sessions running at once.

It is never shared with anyone else, never sold, and never used for advertising. Location data is transmitted encrypted (HTTPS/TLS) and stored in Google Firebase (Cloud Firestore) only for as long as the session needs it.

Your controls

You can stop sharing at any time by ending or leaving the session, or by revoking the location permission in your device settings. Any participant can leave at any time, and the person who started the session can end it for everyone. When you leave a session, your last recorded position is deleted rather than left behind.

Data retention and deletion

Your location is deleted automatically. The position we hold for you is removed as soon as the session ends, and as soon as you leave a session — whichever happens first. You do not have to ask, and there is no period afterwards during which we are still holding where you were.

A record that the session happened is kept. After a session ends we retain the session itself — who was in it, the display names they were using, and when it started and finished. It contains no location data.

Your profile is kept until you ask us to remove it. That is your email address, display name and account settings.

To delete your account and everything associated with it, email find.me.arrow@gmail.com from the address on the account. We will complete the deletion within 30 days.

Third-party services

Find ME uses:

We do not use advertising SDKs, and we do not use analytics or tracking services. We do not track you across other companies' apps or websites. If this ever changes, this policy will be updated before the change ships.

Age

Find ME collects the information described above from everyone who uses it. There is no way to use the app without an account and without sharing your location during a session — that is what the app does.

For that reason Find ME is not intended for children under 13, or under the minimum age of digital consent where you live if that age is higher. We do not knowingly allow accounts to be created by anyone below that age. If you believe an account belongs to a child, contact us and we will delete the account and its data.

App store age ratings describe an app's content, not who may hold an account. Find ME contains nothing unsuitable for any age, which is why it is rated for general audiences — but because using it means holding an account and sharing your location, the age requirement above still applies.

Changes

We may update this policy as the app evolves. Material changes will be reflected on this page with a new effective date.
